Thread starter Ralleigh Start date Apr 19, Ralleigh New Member. Joined Apr 19, Messages 5 Reaction score 0. I rooted my phone recently and the first time I did it, I think I downloaded a virus too because it eventually bricked my phone.
But what started happening was my phone started automatically downloading random apps from the app store without my permission. I thought it would have been because of the virus, but when my phone bricked I wiped it completely and started off with a new stock OS. I went though ROM Manager and Cyanamod directly to make sure I wasnt downloading a virus again More research is good before doing something. My phone started self downloading apps again today though!

There are several ways of trying to treat this. Download some antivirus apps and see if they can find the app responsible. Unfortunately, this is not likely to be successful. Run a factory reset. If the malware has not embedded itself into the operating system, a factory reset will delete whatever is causing this. Flash the stock operating system. By reflashing the stock operating system essentially reinstalling Android , there is absolutely no chance the virus will survive the process.
