I have found three ways with which you can install a browser on your Android TV. Not every Android TV device would let you install Chrome with the first two methods. Play Store can easily install apps for you on your Android TV. To do this, you would require a computer. Open the web browser on your computer and go to play. Make sure you are log in with the same account on both the computer and the Android TV.
Search for a Chrome browser in the search bar and open the app page. Click the Install button and the page would ask you to select the device on which you want to install the browser. The only limitation of this method is that it can only download the apps which are optimized for your device. Android TV comes with a voice command feature for easy navigation on the TV mainly due to a lack of sophisticated input devices like a mouse and a keyboard.
Confirm by pressing the Install button using the remote. Anything more than, I would just use my smartphone or my laptop. With that in mind, these web browsers are ordered based on speed, ease of use, and how they look on your Android TV. Browsers that have dedicated Android TV apps will get extra points. On the flip side, browsers that need to be sideloaded will lose some points. But Puffin just feels faster! On of my favorite things about Puffin is that they made their browser look and act like an app.
Apps should feel different because we use them differently. For example, if you look at Google Chrome, the search bar is front-and-center on the browser. Puffin has a large side menu that disappears as soon as you navigate into the rest of the screen. Clicking into your bookmarks brings them into focus and everything else gets out of your way. I love that! While some TV boxes that run the official Android TV operating system have air-mouse remotes, most do not.
Except for that, FireFox is a great web browser to use on your Android TV, especially if you use it on your other devices. Performance is only OK, with Downloader finishing near the bottom of most of the benchmarks. You can turn off JavaScript through a menu option to speed things up, but that will make some websites fail to load.
You get a selection of curated videos and the browser supports regional languages as well. Moreover, you can use incognito browsing here as well, which is quite useful. Overall, this is a good Android TV web browser that you should definitely try out.

If you intend to watch videos from a variety of websites then Puffin TV Browser will be of great help. The only con of this browser is that it has limited free usage every day. Once you exhaust that limit, you need to subscribe to its paid plan. If you find the browsing experience seamless then you can go for the paid plan. It may come as a surprise, but Google Chrome on Android TV is not as seamless as the smartphone version.
